The First meeting of China-Malaysian joint committee on marine sciences was held in Beijing Ethnic Hotel on Mar. 11, 2010. Professor Fangli Qiao, as the chairman of the steering committee of the first workshop on marine science between China and Malaysian reported the outcome of the workshop to the joint committee. The China-Malaysian joint committee on marine sciences signed a summary of the meeting highlighting the five flagship projects. The Ocean Forecast demonstration System project was one of the five projects.
